Dissatisfaction
Dear Soul,
Life seems to be dual. It can be easy or hard, up or down, slow or quick, … to make the list short, ever different. Notice how many people around you are constantly discontent with what is now. Be it anything. It could be said that dissatisfaction is a natural human trait. Now, for sure, you expect me to say that to be discontent is a basic mistake people make. But no, I am telling you that dissatisfaction is the best thing people have at their disposal, because dissatisfaction makes things move. If we had been happy in the Middle Ages, today we would live in stinky muddy towns, wearing one set of clothes for half of our life, which, as a bonus, would be full of fleas. (And I would be burnt at the stake for witchcraft.)
Dissatisfaction, though, can lead us two ways – one is negative and the other positive. The first and the one people tread the most– we could even say that it is an international highway – makes us complain about our circumstances. About hot weather, hard economical situations, people’s unreliability, etc. Name anything and you will definitely find a person who complains about it. And the action of a complainer is complaint making.
Then there is a little path out of dissatisfaction, which leads to inner happiness, despite the fact that walking this path often goes against logical thinking. On this path, you do not need to analyse the things that suck; instead, you ask the same questions at every curve: Am I dissatisfied with this? If so, what can I do with it? If you do something with it, you can continue walking your path, and when you run into the next curve, you ask the same questions.
The theory looks perfect; however, the practice is harder. Sometimes, you run into a curve where you find out that you are discontent but can do nothing about it. When experiencing such a moment, it always looks like the worst thing that could ever happen to you. Everyone has been in such situations, but most people remain standing at this point, sacrificing their life to feeling unhappy due to an unfavourable circumstance. You have this feeling that you are swept away from the path of a creator to that of a situational victim. Know, however, that this situation is your personal gift from above. In this situation, if you wish to be content (i.e., happy), the only thing you can do is to change your attitude to the things happening.
You have to surrender, and allow the river to carry you away.
And only when you surrender, because your wish to be happy is greater than your dissatisfaction with an unresolvable situation, will you get to feel what freedom is.
And you know what? In no time, the curvy path will change into a marvellous river which will take you to unsuspected, far-away lands and toward having the most beautiful and delicate experiences, feelings and sensations you can imagine. For, such is life!
So, thrust yourself into dissatisfaction, enjoy the winding of the path, because maybe soon you will run into an unresolvable problem which will change your path into a river. Suddenly, that winding of life and its ever-changing conditions will turn into something you will be able to enjoy.
